Per person, even on a shared sled

Every one of these is priced per person, and on most self-drive safaris two adults share a sled. So two people on Safartica’s safari pay twice the headline: the availability calendar showed US$421.18 for two adults. A family on one sled pays for each seat, and on NordicUnique Travels' safari children under 12 must come with an adult paying the full price.

What the step up buys

Up to about US$120 you meet the dogs and ride a short way, mostly behind a musher or on a farm loop: the 2.5 km at Santa Claus Village, a 500 m carriage at Apukka Resort, or 1 km at Arctic Circle Snowmobile Park. The exception is Lapland Royal Adventures' 7.5 km, a long ride at a low price, rated 4.2 by 103 reviewers.

From about US$210 most listings let you drive your own team for 3 to 10 km, with transfers and usually the winter clothing in the price. What separates the dearer ones is the distance, a meal (sausages and marshmallows in a kota on A Day In Lapland's) and pickup from your accommodation rather than a central point (Arctic GM Experiences OY's).

The From figure is not always what a given date costs. Apukka Resort Oy's 6 km safari shows From US$244; on 10 December 2026 it read US$255.16 a person, on 20 January and 17 February 2027 US$244.02, and 27 November had no availability.

Extras are priced in euros by the operator. Wonderlapland charges EUR 10 a person for the winter overall and snow boots and prices its photography package on request, both to be asked for in advance. On Arctic Circle Snowmobile Park's husky and reindeer day with a snowmobile, the snowmobile driver carries a self-liability of EUR 950 per person per snowmobile, reduced to EUR 150 with EUR 15 of insurance bought on site.

The same safari on Viator

Arctic GM Experiences OY's self-drive also sells on Viator as Rovaniemi: Drive Your Own Husky Team, 5-8 km - Small Group for US$283 (checked November 2026). The operators price in euros, so what you pay in US dollars on either platform depends on the day’s conversion. Both allow free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
