If you are staying in Levi, you do not need Rovaniemi for a husky safari. Keo Wilderness’s Levi: 5 km Husky Sledding Ride in Levi, from US$167 a person (checked November 2026), takes you 15 minutes from Levi to its husky base, gives you a safety briefing, and puts you on your own sled for 5 km.
The meeting point is Burger King Levi, and the base is by Rautusjärvi. After the ride you meet the puppies and warm up in a shelter with hot drinks and cookies; the whole outing is 2 hours. Bring your own winter clothing and warm shoes: none are included. When we read it in November 2026, the first date on sale was 2 January 2027.
Where Levi and Saariselkä are
Levi is 169 km by road north of Rovaniemi and Saariselkä 258 km. Neither is a day trip for a husky ride: book the safari where you are staying. The Finnish Meteorological Institute names both resorts where it puts the chance of auroras at roughly 50% of dark, cloudless nights, which matters on a ride with a stop for the lights.

Levi
Arctic Circle Snowmobile Park's Levi ride is the longest here at 7 km, with pickup from set locations in Levi, winter clothing and warm drinks. Two people share a team and can switch halfway; every driver must be at least 18. It runs “rain or shine” and is cancelled only in extreme weather such as storms, with a full refund.
Levisafari & co Oy keeps its 5 km safari to groups of up to 8, with a kennel visit and hot berry juice in a jurta afterwards, but no transport to the farm. Keo Wilderness, for its part, sets the strictest limits: not for children under 4, people over 70, people over 95 kg, or anyone with heart problems or high blood pressure, and it may reschedule or refund at −30 °C or colder.
Saariselkä
Star Arctic Oy's safari hands out thermal overalls, boots and gloves at the Star Arctic Hotel reception, drives you to its husky farm and puts two people on each sled for about 8 km, with the guide alongside on a snowmobile. The break is in a tipi with a fire and a warm drink, where you can “hopefully spot” the northern lights. You must be physically fit to drive the sled, “once on the trail, there are no shortcuts back to the farm”, and the driver is liable for damage with a self-liability of EUR 2,000 per accident, and children under 11 cannot join. It has 15 reviews.
